The 2020 elections may be over, but our work is just getting started. Student Voice is organizing at the federal, state and local levels to ensure all decisions about the future of education start with students.

We're creating a roadmap on meaningfully engaging youth voice in the Biden administration's Department of Education

  1. Students and our agenda should be forefronted in the Biden-Harris education transition team.

Involve students directly in the selection of the new Secretary and Undersecretaries of Education and listen to students’ demands for leaders who have a deep understanding of our public education system and are accountable to students, teachers and communities, not private interests.

    1
  2. Racial and social justice should be our first priority.

Explicitly prioritize racial and social justice in all decisions and policies made regarding education in the Biden administration.

    2
  3. Students deserve a meaningful seat at the table in the Department of Education.

Institutionalize student voice in the Biden administration’s Department of Education by giving students a meaningful seat at the table at all commissions, working groups or convenings which make decisions regarding our educations.

    3
  4. Students should be considered the U.S. education system's main stakeholder.

Remain accountable to student and youth feedback on all issues that affect our educations and lives.
